Painted Harvest and Rooted in Nature for GDP136

It’s time for another Global Design Project (GDP136) Challenge and this time we are CASEing the Designer! In the card making world you can find inspiration from so many different people and I am always in awe of some of the creations I see. The designer we are CASEing this time is fellow Canadian and Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Allison Okamitsu. Allison is one of the most talented Demonstrators out there. Her cards are always bright and fun, and her designs are always beyond gorgeous. I am so excited we are CASEing her for this challenge! Here is my card:

GDP136 - CASeing Allison

When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we can copy the design exactly or choose to take elements of the card and make them our own. Here is Allison’s card that is the inspiration for this weeks challenge.

GDP136_Allison_Okamitsu

Isn’t her card just adorable? In this case, I chose to go with Allison’s layout with the four images on the top and the sentiment on the bottom.

GDP136 - CASEing Allison 2

For my card I used one of my favourite stamp sets, Painted Harvest, as well as a new favourite; the brand new Rooted In Nature Stamp Set that will be available in the new 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue coming out on June 1st.

The colours I used are Pacific Point, Pool Party, and Daffodil Delight. I also added some embossing powder for the sentiment for an extra little touch.

I do hope you liked this card! Be sure to subscribe to my blog and newsletter by clicking the link on the right-hand side of this page! You can also catch me over on YouTube, where I share video tutorials and more.

In Every Season Card

In Every Season 1 - MAY 2018

Happy Weekend, friends! Thank you for joining me today. Despite the crazy wind storm we had on Friday (seriously, I thought my car was going to blow over on the highway!), we have been having some pretty good weather this past week. I think Spring is finally here! I even spent four hours in the garden yesterday doing some clean up and prepping for new flowers!

This makes me super excited to show you this card that I created with the brand new In Every Season Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! I definitely had Spring in mind when I created it and just love how it turned out. The sentiment is also from a new stamp set (Rooted in Nature – sneak peek coming soon!).

Both of these gorgeous sets will be available in the new 2018 – 2019 Annual Catalogue that is coming on June 1st. That is less than a month away!

*Cue Happy Dance*

In Every Season 2 - MAY 2018 BLOG POST

You’ll notice that I used many different floral stamps on this one including Primrose, Violets, and Carnations. So pretty, right?

In total there are 12 different flowers included in the stamp set which you can see below. As you can tell, the possibilities are endless this one. For this card in particular, I used Pacific Point Card Stock and ink, and used a combination of Stampin’ Write Markers and Blends (will be available soon), to colour in the flowers.

Please feel free to save the guide below to use as a reference when making your own creations with this set.

Celebrate Card w/ Video, Plus Tips!

Hello friends and happy Sunday!

We’re in the middle of an April ice storm here in Hamilton…what the heck?! I am so ready for Spring! BUT, being stuck inside has it’s advantages as I was able to film and edit my latest video all in one day! Winning!

Celebrate You Card 1

Today’s card is so pretty, isn’t it? Not only does it have a little bling, but I made it using absolutely NO stamping! I do love to stamp, but sometimes you just gotta change it up, you know?

For this card the main items used are the Eclectic Layers Thinlit Dies and the Celebrate you Thinlits (coming out June 1st).  A full list of supplies used for this card is located at the end of this blog post.

You can watch the full video tutorial below.

Direct link to video.

I really hoped you enjoyed today’s tutorial! Here is a closer look at the card.

Colour Revamp Revealed

Colour Revamp

The spice of life is variety, and that’s especially true in the world of color. Stampin’ Up! makes a point to keep an eye on color trends across different markets and industries. When they see changes happening, they review their color spectrum to ensure that they remain consistently on top of the trends. This brings us to the 2018 Color Revamp! In order to keep bringing you the most current and on trend colours, they decided it was time to give their color collections a makeover.

You may have noticed from the Retiring Lists that many colours are going away. While I am sad to see some of my favourite colours go (goodbye my beloved Island Indigo), I am equally excited to see some returning favourites, as well as some brand new colours!

First, let’s take a look at the RETIRING COLOURS. They are below.

Colour Summary

Second, let’s new at NEW colours. Notice any returning favourites?!

New Colours

Next, let’s look at the FULL colour Reveal, including new Colour Collections.

Full Colour Reveal

Aren’t these colours delicious?! I am very excited about Merry Merlot, Mango Melody, Gorgeous Grape, and Balmy Blue! Oh, and did you see that Mint Macaron is coming back?! YES!

So, what do you think about these changes? I’d love to hear your feedback in the comment section of this blog post. I am absolutely excited about this and can just imagine all of the fun stamping we can have with these colours.

There is another change coming (I know, it’s a lot to take in), but the ink pads are also changing and I’ll post about those soon! And trust me, it is good!

When the catalogue goes live on June 1st, I’ll also have some colour guides available for my customers.

Be sure to sign up for my newsletter if you’re not already on my list!

Thanks for joining me today! Happy Stamping!

Beautiful Brusho Card w/VIDEO and Tips

Welcome friends! Today I am talking about Brusho and I have a video tutorial on how to create this stunning card using these Watercolour Crystals!

Brusho EDIT

You might have heard of the new Brusho Crystal Colour from Stampin’ Up! already, but just in case you haven’t, let me tell you about it! Brusho Crystal Colour is really a unique and highly pigmented watercolour powder and currently Stampin’ Up! offers  a set 5 different colours. These include Prussian Blue, Brilliant Red, Gamboge, Moss Green, and Yellow.

The powder can be applied to a variety of mediums including: watercolour, mixing with acrylics, simple sprinkling techniques and even wood staining! But for the purpose of this post, I did some good ole’ fashioned watercolour painting.

Before you get started, be sure to gather some of the additional watercolour painting supplies (as noted in the video below). You’ll also find a full supply list at the bottom of this post:

  • Two Mason Jars for water

  • A small bowl or other dish

  • Paper Towel

  • A Paint Brush

Brusho Edit 2

Look how pretty this is! I love it SO much! This would make a perfect birthday or Mother’s Day card too!

But to get the most out of Brusho, I have some tips for you and really think you’ll find them useful. They are:

  • Brusho is a highly pigmented product, which means it’s really rich in colour and a little goes a long way!

  • I suggest you do not fully open the Brusho jar, but rather poke a couple of holes in the top with your Paper Piercing Tool (or other). This way you can ‘sprinkle’ on the colour when needed. Think of it as using a salt shaker!

  • You don’t always need to add water to your paper first, simply sprinkle and spritz! Sprinkle your Brusho colours directly on your Watercolour Paper and then spritz with your Stampin’ Spritzer! You can then blend with your paint brush or leave it as-is for a crystalized effect.

  • Watercolour Paper is optimal when using Brusho, but if you don’t have that on hand, use heavy cardstock.

  • It’s messy and spontaneous, and FUN!

If you have some tips to share yourself, please comment on the post as I’d love to learn as well!

Celebrating You Perennial Birthday Card

Perennial Birthday 1

Hello friends! I’m in the midst of an unexpected two weeks off at my day job, so that means I’ve been spending more time in the craft room – and I’m loving it! To be honest though, I’ve needed a bit of a mental break and am getting some much needed rest and time to really just do nothing. It’s been good for me and a much needed break for sure.

But let’s get on with today’s card because I am in LOVE! It features the new Perennial Birthdays Stamp Set from the 2018 Occasions Catalogue. I can already tell that this set is going to get a lot of use; not just for birthday cards, but I foresee all sorts of occasions being used with this fun floral set.

I stamped this card using the masking technique and did some watercoloring with our Aqua Painters. I used a Berry Burst for the card based, and then Berry Burst, Pool Party, and Cucumber Crush Ink for the stamped images. If you don’t happen to have Cucumber Crush Ink, Wild Wasabi is an excellent substitute!

It really turned out lovely, don’t you think?

Perennial Birthday 2

A full list of supplies used to make today’s card is at the bottom of this post. Please choose to shop with me in my Canadian Online Stampin’ Up! Store. I’d love to welcome you as one of my VIP customers! Check out the perks HERE.

Thank you so much for shopping with me and visiting the blog today! I SO appreciate you stopping by.

New Beginnings | GDP123

Hello Friends!

I decided to enter the Global Design Project Challenge #123 at the last minute, and I’m super excited to show you what I came up with! I’ve done the challenge before, but I admit, it’s been a while!

New Beginnings GDP123 - 1

This challenge (#GDP123) is all about new beginnings, and I think this is something we can all relate to. Whether it’s a new job, you’re a new Stampin’ Up! Demo (or want to be!), retirement, wedding…the list can go on! We’ve all started anew at one point or other, so what a perfect theme!

GDPD123

For this particular card, I had two things in mind; retirement and/or new job. I think it suits either occasion as its bright, cheery, and really shows excitement!

The layout of the card is cased from the lovely Lauren Alarid, who is a fellow demonstrator and a 2018 Artisan Design Team Member. Her cards are always so lovely, but the layout in which this one is based, is probably one of my faves!

You’ll notice that I used a couple of different stamp sets for this card; the new Picture Perfect Stamp Set from the new Occasions Catalogue, as well as the Colourful Seasons Stamp Set from the Annual Catalogue.

Colours used are Bermuda Bay, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, and Peekaboo Peach. Also used is the beautiful Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, which created the beautiful background on this card.

New Beginnings GDP123 - 2

I do hope you love this card! If you have any questions about this or anything Stampin’ Up!, please comment below!

Thank you so much for visiting today. Be sure to subscribe to my blog and newsletter located on the right side of this page so you can stay up to date on projects, classes, and more.

Bye for now!
