Beautiful Brusho Card w/VIDEO and Tips

Welcome friends! Today I am talking about Brusho and I have a video tutorial on how to create this stunning card using these Watercolour Crystals!

Brusho EDIT

You might have heard of the new Brusho Crystal Colour from Stampin’ Up! already, but just in case you haven’t, let me tell you about it! Brusho Crystal Colour is really a unique and highly pigmented watercolour powder and currently Stampin’ Up! offers  a set 5 different colours. These include Prussian Blue, Brilliant Red, Gamboge, Moss Green, and Yellow.

The powder can be applied to a variety of mediums including: watercolour, mixing with acrylics, simple sprinkling techniques and even wood staining! But for the purpose of this post, I did some good ole’ fashioned watercolour painting.

Before you get started, be sure to gather some of the additional watercolour painting supplies (as noted in the video below). You’ll also find a full supply list at the bottom of this post:

  • Two Mason Jars for water

  • A small bowl or other dish

  • Paper Towel

  • A Paint Brush

Brusho Edit 2

Look how pretty this is! I love it SO much! This would make a perfect birthday or Mother’s Day card too!

But to get the most out of Brusho, I have some tips for you and really think you’ll find them useful. They are:

  • Brusho is a highly pigmented product, which means it’s really rich in colour and a little goes a long way!

  • I suggest you do not fully open the Brusho jar, but rather poke a couple of holes in the top with your Paper Piercing Tool (or other). This way you can ‘sprinkle’ on the colour when needed. Think of it as using a salt shaker!

  • You don’t always need to add water to your paper first, simply sprinkle and spritz! Sprinkle your Brusho colours directly on your Watercolour Paper and then spritz with your Stampin’ Spritzer! You can then blend with your paint brush or leave it as-is for a crystalized effect.

  • Watercolour Paper is optimal when using Brusho, but if you don’t have that on hand, use heavy cardstock.

  • It’s messy and spontaneous, and FUN!

If you have some tips to share yourself, please comment on the post as I’d love to learn as well!

From the moment I opened the Occasions Catalogue, the True Gentlemen Suite instantly caught my eye. I’m not sure if was the colours (my fave colours are blue/turquoise), or if it’s because masculine cards are what I struggle with most, but this set really has it all for me. Plus, I thought that this suite would make the masculine cards come a bit easier for me.

And let me tell you, this suite has helped so much!

I decided to go with something a bit more simple this time, but this suite really allows you to get creative with the sentiments and embellishments. The colour, sentiments; everything about this set just speaks to me and has so much to offer.

I think aside from the Truly Tailored Stamp Set itself, the True Gentlemen Designer Series Paper may be one of my most favourite Designer Series Paper that Stampin’ Up! has ever had. I say this because of it’s level of details, it’s classiness, and I think it can appeal to both kids and adults alike. Just think of the gift packaging you can create with it too!

If you like this suite as much as I do, but are not too sure what to get, I’ve put together this little bundle for you to give you a hand. It’s an easy way to earn a FREE Sale-A-Bration item!

Recent Projects

Now that I’ve posted my first blog post, I thought I’d share a few recent projects I’ve completed before going head on into video tutorials, etc.

Making cards has become a passion of mine so I’m so thankful I get to share them with my audience. Let me know what you think by commenting below!

Birthday Florals
One of my favourite stamp sets from Sale-A-Bration is the What I Love photopolymer stamps. The florals are just so versatile that they can really be used for any card. For this particular card, I used the Island Indigo ink pad with matching paper, and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Butterfly Basics Clear-Mount Stamp Set (my personal favourite birthday sentiment!). I then added some rhinestones and a touch of Wink of Stella to the flowers, and here we are!

The fold is also different from your standard card so I think it really make this one stand out.Birthday FINAL - Blog FEB02Birthday 2 FINAL - Blog FEB02

So Loved
This is a great card for beginners. I used Whisper White cardstock, along with a patterned paper from our Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack that can be found on Page 17 in our 2016 Occasions catalogue. The floral stamp is from the For the New Two rubber stamp set in our 2015 – 2016 Annual catalogue and the sentiment stamp is from the Watercolour Wishes photopolymer stamp set. The ink colours used are Basic Black and Blushing Bride.

Butterfly Love
This card is also great for beginners, and it involves one of my favourite tools – the Big Shot! The cardstock used is Island Indigo and Whisper White (which is embossed using the Lovely Lace embossing folder). I also used matching ribbon and the Butterflies Thinlits.
